God doesn’t want us to be frightened of those who are against us as Christians. The fact that they oppose us is a clear indication that if they continue to deny God and work against Him and His people, they will perish and be in ruin. They will experience eternal misery in hell. That subject isn’t spoken of much these days, but it’s a very real reality.
For those that belong to the Lord and are standing firm in one spirit, striving for the faith of the gospel, we have a different assurance—salvation.
That word “salvation” covers a lot of territory. It entails preservation, safety, and deliverance from the molestation of enemies. All true Christians currently possess this salvation and also future benefits when Jesus returns from heaven and establishes His eternal kingdom.
What an extravagant gift from God to those who love and honor Him and look forward to His return!
