Jesus, Our Teacher

Jesus teacher

I John 2:27

And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.

The early church had false teachers just as we do today. Those teachers taught that a few privileged people had the inside track with God. They were called Gnostics.

When the early believers practiced that one-on-one relationship, that abiding in Jesus by His Holy Spirit, He taught them what they needed to know. That Holy Spirit was the teacher of The Truth. John wrote to tell them they all had received the anointing of the Holy Spirit from Jesus. They all had the inside track by the gift of the Holy Spirit, not just a privileged few.

Today, we need to cultivate that abiding with Jesus. Some call it “Practicing the presence of Jesus.” We practice that presence by walking with Him in our daily living through frequent prayer, Bible reading and study, and assembling with fellow believers.

What is the gift the Holy Spirit has given you?

Lord Jesus, may I practice Your presence in my daily walk,
inviting You into every conversation and encounter.
Keep me from the false teachers by Your ever-present Holy Spirit.
