A Day with My Granddaughter

pp girls praying
Recently I spent the day with one of my granddaughters. She’ll be a senior in high school next year. We spoke of many things, but one stands out in my memory. She told me of accompanying a friend to a Planned Parenthood facility. Her friend’s mother instructed her to go there to get a pregnancy test. I’ll let you hear the conversation we had.

“Mandy’s * mother was out of town so Mandy asked me to go with her.”

“Why didn’t she get a pregnancy test at the drugstore?”

My granddaughter shrugged. “Her mom wanted her to make sure the test was accurate. When we got there the door was locked, so we rang the bell. A big blurry guard came to the door.”

“Wha’dda want?” he asked.

“We’re here for a pregnancy test.”

“The guard eyed us up and down and then said, “Go back to your car. Leave all cell phones, cameras, and recording devices. Then come back.”

“We did as he asked. When we came back a person behind the desk asked us if we had any recording or camera equipment with us. We said we didn’t. Then she shoved a paper at us to sign stating the same. We signed it. Then she warned us we would be in big trouble if we were lying. She directed us to have a seat in the empty waiting area.

“The nurse came out and told Mandy to follow her.”

Mandy asked, “Can my friend come with me?”

“Absolutely not!”

My granddaughter continued, “My friend told me when she got back there, four women employees laughed and joked like this was some regular office gathering around the water cooler. Mandy took the test and it came back negative.

“After the test, the nurse talked with her for a while. ‘I’ve had three abortions myself. I wanted a boy and a girl. After my first boy, I just kept getting more boys. Now I’ve got my boy and a girl. Everything’s good.’”

I wonder. Is this the education Planned Parenthood so proudly touts as they take millions of our tax dollars each year?

For the past forty years, the spirit of murder has run rampant. We have murdered 53 million babies in this nation over that period. In the book of James, chapter 5, verse 16, it says, “The prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Hard hearts, greedy for money, need to be changed. No amount of demonstration or protests on the street is going to do that. There is only one way. Only God can cause that to happen. He will only move if we pray. Will you join me in asking God Almighty to send a sweeping revival so that God’s gift of life is once again revered?

Bravo, your granddaughter was brave enough to help her friend. The fact she was at PP may be reflective of her mother’s flippancy about her pending problem. The remedy for teen abortion starts at home and we can’t legislate morality. If mothers don’t care what happens to their little girls, the little girls don’t care either.
Sadly, numerous ‘Christian’ homes have this lack of concern when it comes to their own children. Do we turn a blind eye to what’s happening inside our own sphere of influence? How many of the teens, in churches, are facing the same disaster next week? We needn’t look outside to find girls who need a shoulder to cry upon, a hand to hold, and a strong, loving woman to help.

  2. My heart hurts for any teen who goes through this heart wrenching decision. The militant stance taken does not surprise me. The answer of the mother – I want a test we can trust also doesn’t surprise me, but definitely scares me. How many more mothers are out there suggesting their daughters go to places where they will not be nurtured, but instead treated as a commodity?

What a tribute that you can talk so frankly with your granddaughter.

My prayers for the abomination of abortion are daily. We have so many walking wounded!

It is a sad situation we find our nation and world in. I agree much prayer is needed. We ask everyone in our Pro Life ministry to pray together as a nation at 6 PM Pacific time.

I also agree with Anne, that action is also needed. We hold prayer vigils in public, that just happen to be outside Planned Parenthood in Rancho Mirage, CA. Hope Beats in EVERY Heart is taking the lead this year in the “40 Days for Life” Campaign in the Morongo Basin, in Yucca Valley, CA. If any one is near and wants to STAND with us and our pro life community just check out our FB page and leave us a message.

It is a scary thought that any woman would go to PP for a pregnancy test, where if it is positive they will automatically be inundated with pro abortion coercion! Pray for all these situations daily.

  4. I agree very much with you Sally , prayer is needed but so is action against this Holocaust of evil, we are Jesus’ hands, arms, feet and voice but sadly today most Christians do not take a stand against evil, even in the Church. Jesus got the whip out, and also confronted the Pharisees head on and corrected error and so did Paul when the Church was acting childish, he was also quick to correct error in teaching and confront those who sinned. Why do you think the True believers in the early Church were all Martyred except John, although he was sent to the deserted Isle of Patmos to die alone and to shut him up.

Why was this young girl having a pregnancy test and if pregnant would she have aborted the baby, once it was not a common advent to have an Abortion but as you shared Sally not so today, don’t Parents teach morals anymore, even some Christians put their daughters on the pill.

Today it seems a lot of Christians and those who consider themselves good, do not vote for a Government by evaluating their Christian beliefs but what they can give them and so God gives them what they want till they come to their senses and this is His discipline for a godless Nation, they reap what they sow. It was the same with Hitler, Christians voted for him with his promises of wealth and power but some did risk their own lives to hide the Jews.

I do not believe as Christians we should oppose the Government in regards to worldly values but we need to make a stand against their polices that go against God’s standards in His guidelines, such as Abortion and Euthanasia and Homosexuality being taught in Schools as an alternative lifestyle, it is dangerous and not just for those who practice it as the statics show.

Yes we do pray wholeheartedly it is our source of power but True prayer is followed by action, they go together, Love is an action but God’s Love is not violent or disrespectful and fleshy, seeking it’s own rights but it does stand up for God’s.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne
